On Thursday, June 8th, members from the DHMH sacrificed their own time to meet with Health Budget committee chairs Del. Kirill Reznik and Sen. Rich Madeleno about staffing shortages across the state; particularly in light of the state’s growing opioid epidemic and changes in patient populations.
Members represented the state psychiatric and chronic hospitals, Developmental Disability facilities, local health departments, and the chief medical examiners office. They’re fighting for more staffing, training, and pay, and to be able to provide quality services.

On Wednesday, June 14th, DHMH members met with Senator Mathias and Delegate Sample-Hughes in Salisbury to discuss similar issues in their facilities, showing that this is a statewide issue that we need to come together to remedy.
Legislators listened, offered support and were eager to work with us to find a solution.
It is important that we find the time to address the matters most important to us and our jobs. We thank the DHMH members, Del. Kirill Reznik, Del. Sample-Hughes, Sen. Rich Madeleno and Sen. Mathias for their time.
